Wetaskiwin City Council is addressing concerns caused by aging playgrounds through the playground equipment replacement plan.
Through inspections, it was determined that all 16 of the city's playgrounds require repairs, refurbishment, or replacement.
Innisfail RCMP seek assistance in identifying theft suspect
On July 6, the Innisfail RCMP received a report of theft of copper wire from an oil filed site located on Range Road 40 and Township Road 360 West of Spruce View.
Police believe that in the early hours of July 6, suspect(s) broke into a gate on the property and proceeded to steal a large amount of electrical cable causing significant damage to the site.
The damages are estimated to be in the $100,000 range.
Police are seeking the publics assistance in identifying the suspect(s).

Heat warning issued for Central Alberta
Environment Canada issued a heat warning for areas of Central Alberta today (July 7).
A heat warning was issued at 4:46 a.m., for areas in and around Lacombe County, Blackfalds, and Bentley.
Extremely hot temperatures of 30 to 35 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows of 14 degrees Celsius or greater are expected until at least mid-week.

RDP received a grant of $135,000 from Actua, to continue advancing scientific discovery through the institution’s Red Hot Science program. The funding is through the federal government’s Strategic Science Fund.
