Kitchen, who's the executive producer for the Prairie Drama Academy, says he wants to run for a seat on council so he can serve the city that's done so much for him. After moving to Portage from Winnipeg roughly 25 years ago, his goal is simple: to make Portage la Prairie a safer place to live.

Friesen was first elected as a councillor in the RM of Stanley in 2018 and has served as Deputy Reeve for the last year and a half.

Stott seeking re-election, looks forward to continued growth
Life-long Niverville resident Kevin Stott has many reasons why he'd like to continue on the Niverville town council, but feels seeing the town continue to grow has been his biggest motivation to run for re-election.
Stott has been on council for 16 years and remembers well the first projects he was a part of. The building of the Heritage Life Personal Care Home and Personal Care Home next door were very rewarding for the town but also for himself personally.
Big change coming to Kenora leadership

The deadline for candidates to file their nominations has passed, which shows three residents up for Mayor, while 15 candidates will vie for City Council.

"Initially, when Mayor (Al) Friesen stopped by to give me the heads up he would not be running this fall, I was not thinking I would put my name in as candidate," he admitted. However, upon further reflection and conversations with others, Schroeder says he decided to go for it.
