Doerksen hoping to hold onto Hanover seat

The Ward One Councillor for the Rural Municipality of Hanover says he has had a lot of fun representing the residents and he would like to serve another term. 

Travis Doerksen was first elected to council in 2018 to represent residents in the New Bothwell area. He says it has been enjoyable, admitting it took him about a year or two to get his feet wet in learning how the municipality operates and becoming better acquainted with the different communities.

Blumenort resident seeking seat on Hanover Council

For the first time since 2006, Ward Three in the Rural Municipality of Hanover will be represented by someone other than Councillor Bob Brandt. And, Nathan Froese is hoping that someone is him.

Froese has announced his intentions to run for the Blumenort area seat. A lifelong resident of Hanover, Froese has lived in Blumenort the last 15 years and says he thinks it is important that the next Ward Three Councillor lives right in the community of Blumenort.

An individual, whose name many Niverville residents will recognize, has decided to add his name to the ballot for Niverville Town Council.  

Bill Fast says his family roots run deep throughout the town. Many are familiar with the businesses his grandfather and father have started and know his family and have become his friends.  

Portage City councillor announces run for re-election

Another current City of Portage la Prairie councillor has made the announcement to run for re-election on October 26th. Preston Meier has fulfilled one term so far in his political career in the community and says the council with which he's worked makes him incredibly proud to be among those whom he considers a great group.

He outlines his reasons for running for another term.

Steinbach City Councillor Damian Penner is excited to announce he is seeking re-election. 

“After a lot of thought and deliberation with my wife and looking at the future within our house, having two young kids, a lot of thought went into this but I am very happy to say that I am looking forward to hopefully serving the community of Steinbach for another term.” 

Additional candidate runs for Portage city council seat

Portage la Prairie City council has another candidate running for one of its seats in the October 26th municipal election. Garry Sloik has held an interest in local politics for some time and has several aspirations for change that he'd like to see implemented, should he get elected.
