Stanley Cup champion to host meet and greet in Okotoks this weekend
Stanley Cup champion and current Calgary Flames forward Ryan Lomberg is hosting a meet and greet in Okotoks this weekend.
He'll be at Thrive Family Chiropractic, 105 Elizabeth Street, from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 14).
Dr. Jason Baietto with Thrive has been Lomberg's chiropractor for about a year, since his move from Florida.
Alberta's Smith says she found unprecedented common ground in meeting with Carney
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says her latest meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney has inspired optimism and he is demonstrating a "real shift" from the previous Justin Trudeau-led Liberals.
Speaking in Edmonton on Thursday, she said she understands why Albertans might feel the rug has been pulled out from them several times before, but she's committed to diplomacy.
"I found more common ground with the prime minister when I met with him yesterday than I have in any meeting with a prime minister," she said.
Update: Coaldale RCMP warn public of aggressive bulls loose near school

The Coaldale RCMP have advised that the bulls have been contained.
Early this morning (Sept. 12), the bulls escaped while being transported.
Around 8:30 a.m., police with help from some farmers and their dog, were able to contain the bulls, and load them into a trailer without incident.

Royal visit shines spotlight on De Winton’s Opening Gaits
A Foothills charitable organization received a royal visit last month.
Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh attended the Masters tournament at Spruce Meadows from Sept. 4 to 7, and while in the area, she visited Opening Gaits Therapeutic Riding Society in De Winton.
Spruce Meadows approached Opening Gaits a few months in advance to see if they would be interested in hosting a high-profile guest, and the charity was happy to oblige.

High River’s newest tree carving is now complete.
Artist Darren Jones was selected to carve the tree in Group Campground B in George Lane Park.
The project features foxes, an owl, and a whimsical fairy castle carved into the trunk of a poplar tree.
Jones completed the project in the first week of September.

The five players acquitted in the Hockey Canada sexual assault trial can return to the NHL when their suspensions end "no sooner" than Dec. 1, the NHL announced Thursday.
The players, who are all unrestricted free agents, can sign with a team on Oct. 15 as they wait for full reinstatement.
