A photo radar scam has been making the rounds in Southern Alberta.

On July 11, both the Lethbridge Police Service and the Medicine Hat Police Service took to Facebook to warn the public about a phishing scam.

Then, on Wednesday, July 16, the Taber Police took to Facebook to let the public know they are now also receiving reports of this same scam.

As part of this scam, people are receiving a text message from "Alberta Drive Safe" or "Safe Roads Alberta" or "City of Lethbridge", claiming the recipient of the message has an unpaid photo radar ticket.

The Town of Nanton has downgraded their water restriction level, due to the recent rainy weather.

They had moved to a Level 2 Water Restriction in early May, which had limited outdoor water usage to twice per week, which included watering lawns, flowerbeds, gardens, washing vehicles, and using a sprinkler.

On July 15, the Town took to social media to let the public know that the rainy weather the area has been experiencing recently has allowed the Town to downgrade the water restriction to Level 1 Water Conservation.

The Town of Okotoks has a water conservation rebate program, which encourages residents to reduce their water consumption.

Through this program, residents are able to purchase and plant drought tolerant plants, trees, and seeds, and get reimbursed for a portion of their cost.

According to Jinny Tofflemire, who is an Environmental Team Lead with the Town of Okotoks, this rebate will help to save residents money, all while keeping plants green.

An over three-year adventure for a Belgian family is coming to an end in the Foothills.

An Okotoks Dawgs Academy infielder has been selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the fifth round of the MLB Draft.

Eighteen-year-old Tim Piasentin was chosen 143rd overall and was the Jays' second Canadian pick.

The Foothills Composite High School graduate showcased his skills at the Blue Jays Futures Academy Showcase in September and more recently during spring training in Arizona.

Piasentin is originally from Coquitlam, B.C., and is committed to the University of Miami.

Okotoks is in the midst of Pollinator Week, which highlights the vital role bees, butterflies, and other pollinators play in local ecosystems.

This marks the fourth year the town has recognized Pollinator Week as an official Bee City; a title Okotoks earned in 2021.
