It’s RV season in Airdrie — but the curb’s not a campground. Under Traffic Bylaw B-30/2023, recreational vehicles can be parked directly beside the registered owner’s residence for up to 72 consecutive hours.
Once that limit is reached, the vehicle must be moved off the street for at least 48 hours before returning.

The Airdrie area just had its hottest July 8 in 138 years
Tuesday’s high of 31.8 C in the Airdrie-Calgary area broke a daily temperature record set in 1886, according to Environment Canada.
“That includes the Calgary and Airdrie area,” said Heather Rombough, Senior Meteorologist with Environment Canada.
According to the July 9 summary, the previous record of 31.7 C was set in 1886. Records for the area have been kept since 1881.
Police investigating after three people hospitalized in Stampede Midway assault
Police are investigating a serious assault that left three people hospitalized after an incident on the Calgary Stampede Midway late Tuesday night.
Officers were called to reports of an assault near the Euroslide at about 11:05 p.m. on July 8, where they found a man in medical distress.
He was transported to hospital in life-threatening but stable condition, Calgary police said in a Wednesday morning release.
Alberta government offering its own museum freebies as part of Canada Strong pass
Alberta's government is jumping on board a federal initiative aimed at saving Canadians a buck if they stay close to home this summer.
The province says it's offering its own free and discounted admissions as part of the Canada Strong Pass program, introduced by the federal government last month.
First promised as a way to promote Canadian tourism in response to the U.S. tariff war, the federal pass includes free access to national parks and historic sites, along with free rail tickets and museum admission for those under 18.
RVS Superintendent reflects and is grateful ahead of retirement

Auto theft costs soar across Alberta
According to recently released data from the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC), auto theft costs in Alberta have increased significantly over the last three years and continued to rise last year.
"Auto theft claims costs were $110.3 million in 2024 compared to $67.0 million in 2021, an increase of 65 per cent," shared IBC.
The hardest-hit cities are Calgary and Edmonton, where auto theft claim costs rose by 81 per cent and 79 per cent, respectively, between 2021 and 2024.
Ottawa set to miss 2026 deadline for establishing $10-a-day child care: report
Ottawa is expected to miss its 2026 deadline to implement $10-a-day child care services across the country, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives said in a new report published on Wednesday.
The analysis concluded that just six provinces and territories are meeting that fee target now.
David Macdonald, an economist with the centre, said even though fees have dropped significantly everywhere, the federal government is unlikely to meet its self-imposed deadline.
