This week, after two years of postponement due to the pandemic, the third instalment of celebrated composer Andrew Balfour’s Truth and Reconciliation concerts will premiere at the West End Cultural Centre.

Virtuosi’s final concert of the season, “Present Impressions,” features the Christina Bouey/Pierre-André Doucet duo in their Winnipeg debut. 

The musical event also welcomes Anica Warkentine to open the program as a Virtuosi Young Artist.

Pre COVID, the Winnipeg School Division’s Divisional honor band was a vibrant, engaging and inspirational event that fostered the growth of some of Manitoba’s finest young musicians.  Over the past two years the honor band was silenced; another casualty of the COVID lockdowns. This year however, it is back, albeit in an adapted form. Band students who go to schools in the Province’s largest division will be able to show their remarkable talents via an online concert.

This weekend, Virtuosi presents their final concert of the 2021-22 season featuring violinist Christina Bouey and pianist Pierre-André Doucet. 

The 2022/23 concert season will be a significant one for the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO) as they look to celebrate 75 years with a full return to concerts. 

Featuring local, national and international talent, the season promises stellar artists performing ambitious programs marking the milestone anniversary.
