Highest level of participation ever in the year's Great Prairie Race
The end of February saw the wrap up for another edition of the Great Prairie Race, the annual activity and connection event for young and old, hosted by Northern Lights Movement for Kids.
The Great Prairie Race was inspired by former Humboldt Bronco Jacob Leicht as a way to activate both the body and the spirit of connection. Walking, running, skiing, skating, and generally moving a distance of 111 km during the month, as a reflection of Jacob’s hockey number 11, is the goal for individuals.

The federal government has offered to renew the $10 per day childcare agreement for an additional five years, and Saskatchewan has yet to sign on.

During his final days in office, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is pushing for long-promised reform to the RCMP.
A government report released Monday, which highlights concerns about Canada's capacity to meet "the new threat environment," says it's time to modernize the police service to focus on "the most serious forms of criminality."
It says the government’s vision should be to establish the RCMP as a "world class, intelligence-led, federal policing organization."

Broncos G Dazza Mitchell named Saskatchewan Player of the Week in SJHL
Humboldt Broncos goalie Dazza Mitchell was recognized by the SJHL as he was named the Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week.
Mitchell was in the crease for Broncos game this weekend, as he made 26 saves on Saturday to help Humboldt clinch a playoff spot with a 4-1 victory over the Notre Dame Hounds.
The Notre Dame Hounds will become the Warman Wolverines next season
The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) franchise in Warman has settled on a new name.
Next season, the Notre Dame Hounds will be rebranded as the Warman Wolverines.
Warman Co-Founder Jon Abrametz made the announcement on Monday during SJHL Weekly. He noted that he consulted with the Principal of Warman High School, Andrew Merryweather, about the name. Wolverines is also the name of the teams at Warman High School.
Minor hockey provincial update
The playoffs are now over for the AA teams in Humboldt.
On Saturday, the U18 AA Humboldt Broncos were eliminated by the Martensville Marauders with a 7-0 loss. Martensville won the best of three series 2-0.
The U13 AA Humboldt Broncos also lost out to the Martensville Marauders. On Friday night in Martensville, Humboldt was defeated by Martensville 5-2, who claimed the series 2-0.
