The Notre Dame Hounds will become the Warman Wolverines next season
The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) franchise in Warman has settled on a new name.
Next season, the Notre Dame Hounds will be rebranded as the Warman Wolverines.
Warman Co-Founder Jon Abrametz made the announcement on Monday during SJHL Weekly. He noted that he consulted with the Principal of Warman High School, Andrew Merryweather, about the name. Wolverines is also the name of the teams at Warman High School.
Minor hockey provincial update
The playoffs are now over for the AA teams in Humboldt.
On Saturday, the U18 AA Humboldt Broncos were eliminated by the Martensville Marauders with a 7-0 loss. Martensville won the best of three series 2-0.
The U13 AA Humboldt Broncos also lost out to the Martensville Marauders. On Friday night in Martensville, Humboldt was defeated by Martensville 5-2, who claimed the series 2-0.
Broncos honour season's best and graduating players at their awards banquet
The Humboldt Broncos held their awards banquet on Sunday, March 2 and honoured their graduating players.

Senior hockey league and provincials entering final stages
The Lanigan Pirates season came to an end with a 4-3 loss to the Wilkie Outlaws in the North finals in Senior ‘C’ Provincials, losing the best of three series 2-0.
Wilkie will meet the Foam Lake Flyers in the Senior ‘C’ Provincial finals after the Flyers eliminated the Assiniboia Rebels on Saturday with a 7-5 home ice victory. The series begins on Friday in Foam Lake. Game two is next Saturday in Wilkie and if necessary, game three is Sunday, March 22 in Wilkie.
Broncos clinch a playoff spot and move into 6th place in the SJHL
The Humboldt Broncos are officially in the post season.
For the 8th straight year, the Broncos have punched their ticket to the SJHL Playoffs following a 4-1 victory in the last-ever meeting with the Notre Dame Hounds.
The Notre Dame Hounds, who will be relocating to Warman, SK next season, paid one final visit to the Elgar Petersen Arena on Friday. The SJHL’s two most geographically separated ‘natural-rivals’ dropped the puck one final time, with Humboldt, who had controlled much of the rivalry over the last handful of years, picking up one final win.
Registration open for senior categories of Humboldt Minor Basketball Association spring program
Youngsters from Grades 1 to 6 are busily engaged in youth basketball programming with the Humboldt Youth Basketball Associate. Now it’s time for registration for the older group.
