Bridge reopened on Highway 1 after accident this morning

The province has announced that the bridge near St. Francois Xavier is now re-opened.

The Manitoba government has issued a warning that both eastbound lanes of Highway 1 are closed going over the Assiniboine River Bridge near St. Francois Xavier.

The closure is due to an accident.

The bridge was also closed yesterday due to a collision.

A detour has been set up taking motorists to Highway 427.

Ottawa orders TikTok's Canadian arm to be dissolved

The federal government is ordering the dissolution of TikTok's Canadian business after a national security review of the Chinese company behind the social media platform, but stopped short of ordering people to stay off the app.

Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne announced the government's "wind up" demand Wednesday, saying it is meant to address "risks" related to ByteDance Ltd.’s establishment of TikTok Technology Canada Inc.

RCMP issue licence suspension of impaired, sleeping driver

A call to RCMP allowed officers to take an impaired driver off the highway last week.

At around 7:30 p.m. on October 28, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a call of a possible impaired driver that just pulled over on Angle Road and the bypass around Portage la Prairie. 

Police attended and located a 48-year-old woman from Winnipeg asleep at the wheel of the suspect vehicle. 

Police could see an open container of alcohol sitting next to the driver.
