SUV collides with traffic lights, one hospitalized
A serious traffic accident disrupted traffic on Saskatchewan Avenue West near Shindleman Way on Tuesday afternoon in Portage la Prairie.
The collision involved a single SUV that struck a set of traffic lights around noon.
At least one person was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. The extent of the injuries is not known at this time.

Portage la Prairie RCMP are asking the public for assistance following an attempted break and enter earlier this month.
On August 8, 2025, at about 6:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a break-in at a residence on Royal Road.

As of August 2025, 265 farmland properties were posted on the MLS system in Saskatchewan. That’s down drastically from 2020, when the number of farms for sale was close to 500.

Jackson became the new MP by a majority vote for Brandon-Souris at the end of April.

Manitoba man convicted in mail bombing that injured lawyer denied parole
A Manitoba man sentenced to life in prison after a judge convicted him of sending letter bombs to his ex-wife and two lawyers in 2015 has been denied full parole.
A parole board hearing for Guido Amsel took place earlier this month, 10 years after Amsel committed his crimes.
The board found that despite Amsel's generally behaving positively while incarcerated and participating in some programming, he shows no remorse for his actions and continues to believe he was set up by police and his ex-wife.
