Police search for tips as stabbing victim tells them nothing
Portage la Prairie RCMP are seeking information regarding an assault on Sunday which led the victim to hospital.
The police were notified just after 5:00 a.m. on September 15 about a stabbing victim at a local hospital.
Authorities attended and located the victim, a 26-year-old man who was not forthcoming with police and would not provide any information about the incident.
The RCMP are asking anyone with information about this assault to call the Portage la Prairie RCMP at 204-857-4445.
Tiger Hills Hockey League shrinks as three longtime franchises take leave
The Tiger Hills Hockey League will operate with 13 teams this upcoming season and a long-standing franchise in the area will not be one of them. The Gladstone Lakers confirmed they would take a one-year leave of absence at the league's fall meeting Monday night in Wawanesa. Two other league mainstays will do the same, the Pilot Mound Pilots and Wawanesa Jets.
Players who suited up for Gladstone in the past who still want to play will be free to join any team that would want them and geographically, MacGregor and Neepawa would logically be two good options.

Four Provincial grower organizations have announced $13.4 million in funding for the newly launched Gate Capital Campaign.
Led by Cereals Canada, the $102 million Global Agriculture Technology Exchange project (otherwise known as Gate) will be built in downtown Winnipeg.

Major aquaculture project in Rockwood to provide over 200 jobs and economic growth
Canada's largest Arctic Char facility is being constructed in the RM of Rockwood, creating up to 104 jobs, with another 120 expected indirectly.
It’s a $145-million project, with the province contributing $10.75 million to Sapphire Springs, the company spearheading the initiative.
RM of Rockwood Reeve Wes Taplin notes that the project is still in its infancy, but when completed, Arctic char will be bred and raised at the facility located east of Gunton.

For a good part of the day, September 16, RCMP paid extra attention, and 44 vehicles were fined for speeds ranging from 118 to 139 km/h in the 100 zone on Trans-Canada near Portage la Prairie.
