Sask. Government announces additional funding for relocatable classrooms including Humboldt
Humboldt is one of several communities that is set to benefit from the latest investment from the Saskatchewan Government to help address growing student enrolment.
On Wednesday, the provincial government announced it would be pledging an additional 29.5 million dollars in relocatable classrooms.
The mid-year funding brings the total investment from the Saskatchewan government up to $58 million for 2024-25.
February Break means fun at the Humboldt Museum and Gallery
Heading into the Family Day long weekend and the ensuing week off in Horizon and Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, the Humboldt and District Gallery have some downtime covered for kids.
February Break programming goes from February 18 to 21 from 1 to 5 pm each day.
Humboldt/Lanigan seeking information on crimes in Humboldt and Lanigan
Humboldt/Lanigan RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance about a break and enter that occurred in Lanigan.
The incident occurred on Main Street in Lanigan, sometime between January 7 and January 11. The property sustained some minor damage.

SHA response to Watrous Hospital ER interruptions
Once again Watrous Hospital has experienced closure of its ER over the evenings of February 10 and 11.
A conversation with Watrous Mayor John Gunderson revealed that the primary challenge was with temporary staff shortages in the hospital’s lab. It’s a situation that Gunderson is hoping to be short term. However, Watrous Hospital is just one rural and northern Saskatchewan centre experiencing those types of staffing challenges.
Out of province breast cancer diagnosis program extended
In order to reduce wait times for diagnostics in breast cancer patients, the provincial government has announced the continuation of contracted service providers from Alberta. The short-term extension was announced in a release of February 10.
Lone occupant declared deceased in rollover near Bruno
A single vehicle rollever near Bruno has resulted in the sole occupants death.
Saskatoon RCMP, along with local fire and EMS, responded to the accident on Township Road 384 approximately 9 kilometres west of Bruno.
The deceased has been identified as a 60-year-old male from Bruno, SK. His family has been notified.
Saskatoon RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
Humboldt RCMP assisted in this investigation.

Saskatchewan RCMP's Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team (CRT), Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) and Humboldt Detachment arrested and charged one individual and seized nearly two kilograms of illicit drugs and 35,000 illegal cigarettes after executing a search warrant near Humboldt, SK.
An RCMP release indicates that on February 4, 2025, RCMP officers from Prince Albert CRT and Humboldt Detachment executed a search warrant at a residence northeast of Humboldt in relation to an ongoing investigation.

Lotteries and Gaming Commission Saskatchewan is warning online gamers to beware of the latest scam in which fraudsters are using Saskatchewan land-based casinos to rip off patrons.
Social media ads for online versions of Dakota Dunes Casino, Casino Regina, or any other physical casino in the provinces are fakes. Scammers are trying to steal credit card numbers or other banking information.
HCAA curling teams head into Regional competition
Play downs in HCAA high school curling continued this past weekend with teams jockeying for position heading into regional competition and ultimately to provincials.
Top honours in the Friday competition held in Humboldt were Wynyard Boys, Muenster Girls, Humboldt Mixed, and LeRoy Doubles teams. First and second in each of their respective categories move on to Regional competition.
