Planned power outage for Wakaw/Cudworth and surroundings
SaskPower is announcing a planned power outage scheduled for Thursday, November 9 from 6:00 am to 7:30 am.
The planned outage is will affect customers in One Arrow First Nation, Bellevue, Wakaw, Cudworth, Alvena, Prud'Homme, Vonda, Totzke, Meacham and all surrounding rurals.
SaskPower thanks customers for their cooperation as their crews work on system maintenance.
HCAA District Junior volleyball champs decided
Another year is in the books for HCAA Junior volleyball as the District matchups have been decided.
In Junior Girls, after round robin, Wakaw finished on top with a 3-0 record, Wadena and Lanigan High both at 1-1, and Watson out of contention at 0-3. Wadena earned its way into the final defeating Lanigan High in 2 straight sets. Wadena and Wakaw battled it out to a deciding game giving Wadena the gold medal.
Street closed in Humboldt for maintenance
A road will be closed in Humboldt starting November 7 at 8:30 am.
6th Avenue between 10th street and 9th street will be closed to traffic due to road maintenance.
The City of Humboldt apologizes for any inconvenience.
Humboldt Broncos take two against the Nipawin Hawks

The Humboldt Broncos were victors on the road and back at home against the Nipawin Hawks this past weekend.
Ben Costantino led the way with a four-point night and the Broncos used a three-goal third period to separate themselves from their out-of-division frequent foe and double up the Hawks 6-3
RCMP Respond To Humboldt Lake
RCMP are currently on the scene at Humboldt Lake, south of the city of Humboldt.
Multiple units are responding as well as a boat crew.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority says hiring initiative benefits Lanigan and Watrous
The Saskatchewan Health Authority is lauding the provincial government’s Health Human Resources Action Plan in helping to stabilize rural acute and emergency room services. A release from the SHA states that the initiative is leading to visible improvements in some areas.
It states that residents in Lanigan and Watrous are seeing benefits from recent recruitment efforts and newly deployed technology. So are residents in Biggar, Canora, Kamsack, Wolseley, Oxbow, and Porcupine Plain.
Legislation protects workers' rights to wear a poppy
Bill 139, passed in the provincial legislature yesterday guaranteeing provincial regulated workers the right to wear a Canadian Legion recognized poppy in the workplace from November 1 to November 11. The caveat is that it can’t pose a danger to health, safety or welfare of the worker or others.
BHP approves C$6.4 billion for stage two of the Jansen potash project
BHP today announced the approval of an investment of C$6.4 billion for Stage 2 of the Jansen potash project (Jansen Stage 2), doubling BHP’s investment in potash as the company builds one of the world’s largest potash mines, located approximately 140 kilometres east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
This follows BHP’s approval of C$7.5 billion for stage one of the Jansen potash project (Jansen Stage 1) in August 2021, and a pre-Jansen Stage 1 investment of C$4.9 billion.

Broncos secure a pair of wins against Kindersley
The Humboldt Broncos reclaimed their winning ways this weekend with a pair of victories over the Kindersley Klippers.
On Friday night in Kindersley, the power play was the key as the Broncos doubled the Klippers 6-3. A double-minor against Kindersley set up the deft passing play that led to Spencer Bell’s opener. On the second leg of the double-minor, Matthew Van Blaricom’s slapshot found the netting for the second of the night.
