With multiple feature films released, the Kendrick brothers are gearing up for the next one which has been a long time coming.

"We were working on this for over a year. We were praying about it this time last year. We wrote the script and shot it this past summer and we're excited about you getting to see The Forge," Stephen Kendrick shared in the video announcement

Alex Kendrick followed with, "You know what a forge is? They shape instruments and weapons, a knife or a sword. It's all done by heat and pressure. When you think about your walk with God, sometimes I feel like man, I'm in a forge. But what happens through that process, if you honour The Lord and He walks with you, He makes you stronger and more fruitful in your life."

The film follows the story of 19-year-old, Isaiah Wright, who loves basketball and video games. After high school, with no job, no plans and no idea of how to be a man, his mom, Cynthia, gives him two choices - to step out or move out which led to his job at Moore Fitness.

With the powerful prayers of his mother and his new mentor, Isaiah is thrown into dealing with his past where he has to sacrifice his selfishness and ultimately, see how God has a greater purpose for his life.

Fans can expect faith-focused family content while keeping the same signature humour and heart from previous films like War Room, while adding some new twists, themes, and characters in the inspirational drama about the power of mentorship.

Fans of War Room are in for a treat and will see some recognizable faces.

One fan commented on social media, "Awesome! (I’m always excited for a new Kendrick movie) Is this a sequel to War Room? (I thought I saw new Ms. Clara footage)."

The cast of The Forge includes familiar faces such as Priscilla Shirer (War Room, I Can Only Imagine), Cameron Arnett (Overcomer, Stand Your Ground), Karen Abercrombie (War Room) and newcomer Aspen Kennedy.

"We were already inspired with a powerful storyline, but the entire movie vaulted up when we realized it beautifully fit alongside our favourite rite War Room characters," said Stephen Kendrick. Alex Kendrick added, "We've thought outside the box and did some things we've never done before with The Forge and can't wait to see how audiences react to it and these themes of mentorship and second chances."

The Forge will hit theatres across North America on August 23, 2024.
