The Humboldt Broncos got the first win on their northern swing as they defeated the La Ronge Ice Wolves 4-2 last night.
Travis Bryson opened up the scoring for the Broncos a little past the halfway mark of the first. La Ronge tied it up in the second, courtesy of Mason Bueckert.
Then Spencer Bell lit up the Mel Hegland Arena with the first of three goals, an unassisted effort coming in the last minute of the second period.
The Broncos were back at it in the third. Just past the four-minute mark, Cage Newans fed Tristan Serrao for the Broncos third. Five minutes later, Daylan Weigel with an assist from Patrick Lanthier put one past Ice Wolves netminder Topher Chirico.
Then Spencer Bell knocked off a back-to-back pair of power play markers to round out the hat trick and put the game out of reach. The Ice Wolves Max Henderson scored on a last-minute effort, too little too late.
The second game against the Wolves goes tonight before the cross-border trek to Flin Flon on Saturday. Game time is both nights is 7:30 pm on 107 5 Bolt FM.
