Dave and JoAnn Doepker of Sobeys receive national award for inclusive employment
Humboldt Sobeys is always a bustling centre in the community, but on June 15, it was the site of a special celebration for owners Dave and JoAnn Doepker to mark their receiving the Canadian Association for Supported Employment's 2023 Mark Wafer Award for Business Excellence. The award celebrates inclusive hiring practices that change the lives of workers and provide untold benefits to businesses and communities.

Uniplex grounds hosts Humboldt Filipino Music and Food Festival
All the excitement of the Humboldt Filipino Music and Food Festival is returning for a second year. The 2023 event is slated for June 24 and 25 at the Humboldt Uniplex Green Space, and it promises to be bigger and better in its sophomore year. It’s a great time for everyone in the Humboldt area to come out and celebrate with the area's Filipino community in a multicultural explosion of sights, sounds, and of course tastes.

Muenster and local developers exploring new residential potential
Muenster Village Council was joined by local developers Ralph and Josh Hinz, community members and an engineering consultant to talk about the process of annexing a parcel of land for development in the community’s northwest corner. The land is currently owned by Ralph Hinz, and the intent is to develop approximately seven residential lots and available commercial space. The meeting was to allow the public the opportunity to inquire and give feedback about the proposed annexation. Ralph and Josh Hinz answered questions on their plans for the development.

Broncos Memorial site project encounters another delay
The long-planned permanent memorial at the site of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash has run into another delay. At its regular monthly meeting, Humboldt City Council heard a report presented by the Broncos Memorial Committee. That report indicated that a phase 2 environmental study would need to be undertaken given that the proposed site at the junctions of Highways 35 and 335 once housed fuel containers and a gas station/garage.

Humboldt RCMP looking for apartment looters
Humboldt RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying individual(s) responsible for a break, enter and theft of an apartment building on 10th Street in Humboldt, Saskatchewan.
On June 17, 2023, the Humboldt RCMP received a complaint that someone was seen exiting an abandoned apartment building on 10th Street.
