NDP not satisfied with Health Minister's plan for out of province breast cancer diagnostics
The provincial government has announced a plan to have women head out of province for mammograms in an effort to reduce diagnostic wait times. On November 29, the Health Ministry announced that patients who meet “urgent” criteria will be offered procedures through an out-of-province provider. Clearpoint Health Network has been contracted to provide a thousand scans to meet the need. This is all while the province states its working on a plan to deliver full diagnostic services at home.

City Council wrestles with further funding for Golf Club
Financial challenges continue for the Humboldt Golf Club. Humboldt City Council entertained a recommendation prepared by City Manager Joe Day that the City of Humboldt provide financial support to the extent necessary to ensure the gates to the club remain open for the upcoming season.
The recommendation follows a 2022 resolution to form a joint committee of City of Humboldt representatives and members of the Golf Club Board to seek long term financial solutions. That led to the City’s advancing $130,000 to the Golf Club for its 2023 operations.

Humboldt RCMP investigating smashed window on front door
Humboldt RCMP is on the search for the individuals responsible for causing mischief to a residence on 6th Street in Humboldt.
On October 6, at 10:30 pm, Humboldt RCMP received a call about a window that was smashed on the front door of a residence along 6th street. RCMP says it is unknown at this time as to how many people were present for the offence.

Horizon School Division sees increased enrolment in 2023
The Horizon School Division announced on November 17 that PreKindergarten to Grade 12 enrolment has risen to 6,561 students as of September 30, 2023, which includes 170 home-school students not enrolled in a Horizon school.
The number is up from 6,527 students in 2022 and marks the third consecutive year of increased enrolment for the division.

Provincial government introduces Carbon Tax Fairness for Families Act
Making good on his promise to withhold carbon tax payments from SaskEnergy to the Federal Government, Premier Scott Moe and his Sask Party Government introduced The SaskEnergy (Carbon Tax Fairness for Families) Amendment Act. The Act, introduced on November 16, is designed to “protect Saskatchewan families from the unfair and unaffordable federal carbon tax,” says a Government of Saskatchewan release.
