On Dec. 7, 2023, the Medical Examiner deemed the death of Grande Prairie resident Brian Buchaski (34), identified by fingerprints a few days prior, to be a homicide. The ongoing investigation lead to the arrest of a suspect on Dec. 8, 2023.
As a result of the investigation, on Dec. 9, 2023, Nathan Landry (29), a resident of Grande Prairie, was charged with 1st degree murder. Landry was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He appeared in court on Dec. 11, 2023, and was once again remanded into custody. His next court date is set for Jan., 8, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie.
