Two men arrested in Fairview for multiple charges

On Dec. 10, 2023, Fairview RCMP responded to a report of suspicious activity at a rural business in Clear Hills County. RCMP were advised cameras on the property showed two individuals on site carrying jerry cans and hoses. Fairview RCMP responded to the complaint and located two individuals who attempt to flea from police but were unsuccessful and subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Stephen Saunders (46), a resident of Grande Prairie, Alta., was charged with:

• Break and Enter
• Possession of a stolen vehicle
• Fail to stop for Police
• Possession of Break in instruments
• Fail to Comply with Release Order (x15)

Wesley Potratz (47), a resident of Rycroft, Alta., was charged with the following:

• Possession of stolen property under $5000
• Possession of Break in instruments
• Fail to stop for Police
• Break and Enter
• Fail to comply with Release Order (x2)
• Drive while unauthorized

Saunders and Potratz were taken before a justice of peace and remanded in custody with their next court date being Dec. 13, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fairview.
