Grande Prairie RCMP lay charges in relation to firearm offences

In the evening of December 19th, 2023, Grande Prairie RCMP members responded to an assault call. RCMP attended, assessed the victim and identified the suspect, who had left the area in a vehicle. The vehicle was soon located by Grande Prairie RCMP and a male was arrested. In the vehicle were two loaded firearms, a hard body armor and handcuffs.

As a result of the investigation, James Darren Sansom (38), a resident of Grande Prairie, was charged with multiple offences, including:

• Assault;
• Uttering threats; and
• 11 firearm and body armor related charges.

Sansom was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. He is to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on Jan. 25, 2024.
