On Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, just after 1 a.m., Grande Prairie RCMP were conducting pro-active patrols in the Hillside area when a vehicle was observed driving erratically. Police attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed.

Shortly after fleeing, the vehicle lost control and came to a stop. As officers approached, the two occupants proceeded to flee on foot.

The two occupants were pursued and arrested.

A subsequent search of vehicle revealed the following items:

-A loaded shotgun with defaced serial number
-Multiple live shotgun rounds
-5 grams of suspected Methamphetamine

AS a result of the investigation, Jesse Bujold (24), a resident of Grande Prairie, was charged with:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Resist arrest (x2)
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Careless use of a firearm (x2)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of firearm contrary to order (x3)
  • Tampering with serial number of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Failure to comply with probation order (x2)
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Fail to remain at scene of a collision

Furthermore, Cheyenne Badger (25), a resident of Grande Prairie, was charged with:

  • Careless use of a firearm (x2)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Tampering with serial number of a firearm
  • Resist arrest (x2)
  • Possession of a controlled substance

Following a release hearing, Bujold was remanded and Badger was released. Both are scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on Jan. 10, 2024.
