LIEBELT – RUBY ALICE was born May 10, 1939 in the RM of Lawtonia, to Gustuv Hahn and Augusta Rodi (Alice) who married June 6, 1926. Gust, eldest son of George and Christina Hahn born in 1905 in Starabol, Russia and they came to Canada in 1910 and grew up in the Scottsburg district. Ruby met her husband Dennis Liebelt in 1957 and they married in Swift Current in 1959.
Ruby opened her Beauty Shop July 6, 1961 which she ran until 1994. Both Ruby and Dennis are survived by their 2 children, Sherri (Fred) Wernicke and family Michael & McKayla (reside on their farm) and son, Dwayne Liebelt (Laurel) from Saskatoon.
Ruby has one remaining sister, Shirley, in Regina, SK; sister-in-law in Calgary and many nieces & nephews. Ruby was predeceased by her husband Dennis (January 14, 2000); big brother Ray Hahn in 2009 and her sister Della Kauth (May 2018).
Ruby was a dedicated mom to all kids that came through her house, always feeding them and letting them have some fun. She was a firm mom, but a fair mom when it came to dealing with repercussions from their bad actions. Ruby loved the outdoors for many reasons, like camping, fishing and gardening. Ruby was a sports fan, having season tickets to the Swift Current Broncos and she billeted players from the Broncos as well as the Swift Current Indians Baseball Club. She and Dennis would take in a number of Saskatchewan Roughrider’s football games in Regina also.
After retirement Ruby always found time to babysit her grandchildren for Sherri & Fred. Ruby continuously donated her time at the Salvation Army to help cook in the kitchen. She also enjoyed taking trips with her sisters and brother across North America. A Celebration of Life Gathering was held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at Parkside Memorial Funeral Home. The interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Burial Park at a later date. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society in memory of Ruby. Arrangements are in care of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home – Ryan Cappelle & Hayden Cappelle.
