One of Swift Current's most prominent summer festivals is seeking sponsors for their upcoming event.
SaskPower Windscape Kite Festival is taking place June 22nd and 23rd and this non-profit, free-to-attend event requires sponsorship from the local community.
The coordinator of the festival Keely Williams provides details on where the sponsorship money goes.
"The sponsorships go towards things like artist fees, the children's activities themselves. So sponsors can pick kite building workshop or face painting or other activities on site."
Williams adds that sponsors can also pick a part of the field they would like to sponsor such as the big kite demo field and that sponsorship money would be used to bring in kite flyers that put on the show.
Sponsors will in turn receive advertising for their business throughout the festival.
Those interested in sponsorship or more information can email sponsorship@windscapekitefestival.ca
In addition, volunteers are also being sought as Williams details.
"We are looking for volunteers for sure to help run the event and that's running the children's activities, that's helping us with set up and take down and cleaning. Working in the background as well if you are not a big crowd person you don't have to be doing crowds. We have jobs helping manage databases, stuffing envelopes and that sort of thing."
The festival committee is well on its way towards reaching the $100,000 goal needed to run the festival this summer but still requires a lot of help from the community.
In-kind donations are also very welcome as Williams says that each year they need to borrow two side-by-sides or utility carts and are always on the hunt for small square straw bails.
For those interested, committee spots remain available in sponsorship and volunteer recruitment.
