With snow accumulations forecast up to two centimetres this evening, motorists are asked to remain cautious as gusting winds may produce blowing snow on highways.
Southbound QEII towards Calgary city limits is reported to be in good condition, while roads within the City of Calgary are reported to have some blowing snow as well as partially icy sections.
Northward towards Carstairs and Crossfield, QEII road conditions are reported as good as well.
According to the Alberta Motor Association (AMA), wait times for a battery boost are upwards of five hours in Airdrie, while towing or winching wait times are also upwards of five hours. In Calgary, wait times for a battery boost, lockout, flat tire, or fuel delivery are two hours, while a battery test or replacement is upwards of 13 hours.
"Cold weather can weaken your battery, making it harder to start your vehicle. Keeping your block heater plugged in when temperatures drop below -15 degrees Celsius can make a huge difference," The AMA advises.
Motorists are also advised to keep their gas topped up, or at least half-full, which will prevent them from running low in an emergency and will protect the integrity of their gas line, as an empty tank risks freezing damage.
