A pastor who was shot in the head while street preaching in Arizona is back up on his feet.
After months of being in hospital, 26-year-old Hans Schmidt returned to church.
"We serve a miracle-working God. He walks, he talks, he even plays the drums," said his wife Zulya in a post on Instagram.
Schmidt, a former military combat medic, husband and father to two young children, was promoting Victory Chapel First Phoenix Church on a street corner on Nov. 15, 2023, when the shooting occurred.
He remained in the ICU in critical condition up until a few days before Christmas when he woke up.
"In the blink of an eye, our lives were changed. You are a living miracle," said his wife, Zulya Schmidt, in a previous post. "Every day, I am amazed seeing you hold our baby boy again. Waving at our baby girl. You have a long way to go, but God will carry us through."
On Monday, his wife posted a photo of the two of them standing outside their church. She also posted a video of Hans playing the drums.
"God has done incredible work in Hans’ life, and every day he continues to improve. Please continue to pray for a full restoration."
Victory Chapel First Phoenix Church says while Hans continues to fight and work hard at his recovery, prayers are still needed and highly valued by him and his family, as the journey is not over.
