The 8th annual 3 On 3 hockey tournament put on by the Arnal Boys Memorial Bursary for Young Farmers takes place next weekend at Eastend Rink Complex.
Chantal Henderson provides some details on the bursaries given out each year.
"We give bursaries out to kids between the ages of 8 and 18 who have an agricultural passion and a project or education in mind in the agricultural field. We just had the deadline for that come February 1st so we have the applications for this year and I think there's 14 of them."
Henderson says they look forward to this tournament each year as an opportunity to get together with family and friends as well as another way to keep the memory of her brothers alive. She adds that teams can still register and provides details.
"We are taking registrations. It consists of teams in the age groups 12 and under, 12-18, and then adult teams. There are 7 people on a team and the registration fee this year is $40 per team member. Students are guaranteed 3 games and adults are guaranteed 2 games."
The event will be taking place February 17th and 18th at Eastend Rink Complex with a live auction happening at 4 pm. There will also be a dinner and dance to follow on February 17th at the Eastend Memorial Hall.
Henderson says tickets for the dinner and dance are available from Eastend Agencies and proceeds from this will be going towards the Eastend Memorial Hall where the meal is taking place. Dinner and Dance tickets are $35 or dinner-only tickets are available for $25.
Any teams interested in registering for the hockey tournament can do so by contacting Henderson at 306-295-2303 or by emailing coreyhenderson08@hotmail.com
In regards to the annual event, Henderson says that although it comes from a place of sadness and hardship it always ends up being a weekend of entertainment and fun and being around good people. She adds that it beneficial for her family and the bursary.
