Custodians in the Seine River School Division have voted in favour of accepting a tentative agreement which would see an end to their strike, which began February 10th.
According to Manitoba Government and General Employees’ Union, members of Local 143 will return to work on Thursday, February 29th with an agreement that will see general wage increases ranging from around 16 percent to just over 20 percent over the four-year agreement.
The Seine River School Division says, "The new agreement signifies a significant milestone in negotiations, demonstrating the commitment of both parties to finding common ground and ensuring the well-being of all stakeholders involved."
Custodians in the Seine River School Division have been working with an expired contract since July 2021.
That means this newly accepted agreement will end in June of next year.
