Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Airdrie and the surrounding areas.
"A narrow band of heavy snow will move through the area this evening bringing up to 10 centimetres of snow and nearly zero visibility," the warning stated.
Heavy snowfall will taper off this evening.
Motorists are warned that there may be a significant impact on rush-hour traffic in urban areas.
"Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions."
The QEII heading towards Calgary City limits has been reported to be slippery, with patches of black ice and icy wheel paths. There's drifting snow and strong wind has also been reported. North of Airdrie, highway conditions have been reported to be in similar condition.
The warning is also in effect for Cochrane, Olds, and Sundre.
