A multitude of collisions around Airdrie in the early morning hours made the commute for some motorists very slow this morning.
Motorists are asked to continue to use extreme caution on the roads, as highways in and around Airdrie are slick and partly covered in snow and ice.
The QEII, Southbound towards Calgary City limits is reported to be slippery with icy sections, while heading North of Airdrie, similar conditions have been reported. It has also been reported that Junction Highway 72 towards Crossfield has packed ice and snow, with extremely slippery sections.
Local forecasts predict that there will be continued frigid temperatures on Wednesday, extending into Thursday morning, though no flurries are predicted. Temperatures will swing up into the plus side by Thursday and well into the weekend.
