A fog advisory issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada early on Wednesday morning north of Airdrie may cause issues for motorists.

"Areas of dense fog have developed over east-central Alberta. This fog is likely to continue into the late morning and dissipate by afternoon," the advisory warned

Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero.

"If travelling, be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance."

While the QEII north of Airdrie in the vicinity of Crossfield and Carstairs is reported to have good visibility, travelling further north towards Bowden and Innisfail, visibility is reported as poor.
