A Regina-based Christian singer and songwriter was recently recognized for his powerful music.

Earlier this month, K-Anthony found out that he was nominated for a Juno award for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year.

"I was blown away, to be honest. I was actually coming from class when I got the message," said K-Anthony. "I don't take it for granted. I'm very much grateful that I was nominated."

K-Anthony travelled to Halifax to take part in the Juno festivities, and on Saturday, March 23, he was named the winner in his category.

"I was grateful. I was shocked. I was a little bit lightheaded," said K-Anthony. "I did not expect it because we were in a category where the artists, I think, did an awesome job."

After the show, K-Anthony says fellow nominee Sterling John suggested they all get together to sing praise and worship.

"It was refreshing to see people coming together, "K-Anthony explained. "Although everyone wasn't able to take home the trophy, we all knew that we were winners, winners in Jesus, and we were able to share together, sing together and give glory to God."

Music wasn't always front and centre for K-Anthony. His first career choice was to become an agronomist. When he found out the school wasn't accepting students until the following year, his mother encouraged him to go to a school that focused on music.

"I started the program, and I never looked back."

K-Anthony is currently in the process of writing new music.

"I am dedicated to the craft that God has given to me, " said K-Anthony. "I want to continue sharing this wonderful music that he has given to me to impact people and to point people to Jesus Christ."
