Granger Smith, who understands loss all too well after his three-year-old son drowned in 2019, hopes his new book will help families deal with grief and the pain that comes with it.
The book Up Toward The Light is a children's book, but Smith says anyone can relate to it.
"It’s a very simple illustration about finding meaning and purpose, especially in the depths of heartache and grief," said Smith in a post on Facebook.
Granger says death is a reality we cannot avoid.
"In fact, it’s not helpful to avoid the conversation about death altogether, but instead, it’s good to process through death—and what comes afterwards," said Smith. "It’s actually a true story about a simple conversation between me and a tree. I hope it matters to you!"
Smith hopes this new book will help start this much-needed conversation.
Up Toward The Light officially hit bookshelves on April 2.
