Second degree murder charges laid in Naicam death

RCMP have charged a man with second degree murder in connection to an assault in Naicam that ended in the victim's death. 

Melfort RCMP officers responded to a report of an assault at a 3rd avenue residence in Naicam at approximately 4:30 pm on May 2nd. EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene. 

The victim was identified as 81-year-old Dennis Swanson from Naicam. 

As a result, 57-year-old Kevin Swanson, a relative of the victim, was  

arrested in Melfort on May 2nd at approximately 5:45 pm and charged with one count of second degree murder.  

Swanson was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Melfort Provincial Court today, May 6.
