Muriel Eleanor Scott

In a room filled with love, Muriel Scott peacefully began her next journey on Friday May 3, 2024 at the age of 79 years.

Lovingly remembered by her husband and best friend of 62 years, Alastair and her cherished daughters; Rayaline Demenuk, Stephanie Brown (Rick) and Cindy Martin (Craig). Grandma with the candy mints to; Jolene (Jeff), Keri, Sheryl, Chaz, Drew (Sophie), Jalen, Miley and Kinzee. Along with great-grandchildren Shane, Jason and Joanna and the best big brother Ron McCarthy (Jeanette).

Muriel is pre-deceased by her parents Kenneth and Edna McCarthy, in-laws Annie and James Scott, brothers- in-law; Jim Scott, Ed Biberdorf and Patty Arseneau, as well as sister-in-law Jean Biberdorf, sister Joyce Arseneau and son-in-law George Demenuk.

Originally from Amherst, Nova Scotia, Muriel set off on an adventure to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba in 1961,following her brother Ron who was stationed at the Base. Muriel met her knight in shining armour, Alastair and together they began their family.

Holding a variety of jobs throughout her years, Muriel never shied away from putting in long hours to do her part. Working at Campbell Soup for many years at various positions, she took a hiatus to care for Stephanie and Cindy, and neighbourhood children. Muriel went back to finish in the office at Campbell’s until 1990 when the plant closed. Muriel then ventured over to CO-OP as a cashier where she stayed until health issues no longer allowed her to work.

Muriel loved working in her flower beds, canning, camping, travelling, painting and decorating. Throughout the years she enjoyed doing various crafts such as liquid embroidery, ceramics, baking and knitting. She made many baby outfits and afghans for family and friends, and the odd sweater when she had the patience. Many great memories were made on spur-of-the-moment road trips around the countryside. Calling the Peony Farm and Bowes home for so many years, time well spent meant time spent with great neighbours.

Always a proud Nova Scotian, Muriel missed her family out East but relished in her memories of the special times when she was able to travel back home. East coast singers and songs brought joyful memories and weekly Saturday phone calls to her brother and sister back home were so very important to her.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she enjoyed a quick-witted joke and nattering about life with Alastair. Gathering with family and friends to enjoy conversation and a delicious feast with all of her favs was something she held dear to her heart. She enjoyed being surrounded by her grandchildren and loved the one-on-one time that she was able to have, and she was so very proud of each and every one. Grandma’s magic microwave of treats was something her grandchildren looked forward to.

Regardless of all her ailments, complaining was not something she did, even though she had every right to. The strength and determination that she exuded was profound and she has passed on this quality.

You are forever in our hearts and we will miss you so much. Until we meet again…love you.

A private celebration of life will be held in honor of Muriel.
