Justin Trudeau and Pierre Poilievre have found some common ground this week in their Christian faith as they shared with over 1,000 people at the National Prayer Breakfast in Ottawa.

"It was a fantastic experience and opportunity," says Ellen Graf-Martin of Graf-Martin Communications. "It's two days of asking God to give wisdom to our leaders and bless our nation. Tuesday morning was the main event and 1,300 people came together at the Shaw Centre in Ottawa with the leaders of the national parties including our Prime Minister."

MP Richard Bragdon of New Brunswick was the MC for the event held on Tuesday, May 7. Multiple people stood up at the podium including the Assembly of First Nations Chief Cindy Woodhouse, who honoured her mother while praying the Lord's Prayer in Anishinaabe. The CEO of International Justice Mission (IJM), Anu George Canjanathoppil also spoke.

"MP Bragdon was the host and man, he brought fire," says Graf-Martin. "Natalie Grant and her husband, Bernie Herms were our musical guest. Bernie is Canadian. The event was inspired by her cover of 'Bridge over Troubled Waters.'"

Both Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as well as Progressive Conservative leader of the opposition, Pierre Poilievre, shared their Christian faith.

"All of the leaders assembled agree that the waters are troubled. Having our Prime Minister talk about his personal faith, I mean he talked about the importance of Jesus being the one who said 'Peace, be still.' Wow. To me, that was powerful. It reminded me that our leaders are human beings created in the image of God first."
