Traffic pattern changes due to construction on 116 avenue

The City of Grande Prairie is providing motorists and commuters with updates to traffic patterns starting tonight, June 13, 2024. These changes are necessary to accommodate ongoing construction work.

Updated Traffic Impact:

Starting June 13, 2024, the following traffic pattern changes will be implemented:

• Traffic switch on 116 Avenue starting tonight in the construction zone west of 102 Street to east of 100 Street.
• Crews have completed storm manhole, catch-basin, storm lead installation, and concrete work on the north side of 116 Avenue. They will be continuing this work on the south side of 116 Avenue in the eastbound lanes starting tomorrow, June 14.
• Single lane alternating traffic on 116 Avenue will now be switched over to run on the westbound lanes on the north side of 116 Avenue.

Variable message signs will be updated accordingly. Commuters are strongly urged to obey flaggers and all posted signs to navigate the area safely and efficiently. The city appreciates the community's cooperation as we continue to improve our roadway infrastructure for the safety and benefit of all residents and visitors.
