Paige Aubichon, a Grade 9 student at Grande Prairie Composite High School, has been honored with the Alberta School Boards Association’s Honouring Spirit: Indigenous Student Award.

Selected from 230 nominees, Paige was recognized for her leadership, courage, and cultural commitment. She organizes the school's beading club, advocates for younger dancers in her community, and recently performed during her school's Orange Shirt Day ceremony.

Paige received her award on June 11 in a ceremony led by Elder Joey Lane.

Proud of her heritage, Paige aspires to a healthcare career while continuing her cultural advocacy. GPCHS Principal Dennis Vobeyda praised Paige for her dedication and positive impact.

"We are immensely proud of Paige's achievements and the positive impact she has made within our school and the larger community," says Dennis Vobeyda, Principal, GPCHS.  "Her dedication to her cultural heritage, combined with her academic excellence, embodies the spirit of this award and what it means to be a Phoenix."
