The City of Grande Prairie has received a $10,000 grant from Tree Canada’s Community Tree Grants program, made possible through CN’s EcoConnexions - From the Ground Up program. The funding supports the continuation of community tree planting efforts, bringing environmental and social benefits to the city.

This grant enabled the City to plant approximately 19 additional trees around the perimeter of the field near Holy Cross and IV Macklin Schools, building on efforts from 2020, when nine trees were planted through Tree Canada’s grant program. These new trees will provide much-needed shade for students during school activities and enhance the overall green space at the school. By planting a variety of large shade trees, the City aims to create a more resilient and vibrant environment while increasing our tree diversity and canopy cover.

About the program:

·CN EcoConnexions – From the Ground Up program, in partnership with Tree Canada, has awarded 252 projects and contributed to the planting of over 135,000 trees across Canada from 2012 to 2022.

·This program underscores CN’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community development.
