Norma Lucille Wallace (nee Beacom) of Swift Current, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully in Medicine Hat, Alberta on October 14, 2023, at the age of 95 years.
She is survived by her son Robert and his wife Dawn, and by her daughter Beverly Dale; her grandchildren David Dale, Daphne Cunningham, Brian Wallace, Katelin Gambino, Stephanie Burke, Warren Wallace and Barbara Mehlhorn. She was predeceased by her parents Gladys and Lawrence Beacom, her son James in 2008, her husband Sam Wallace in 1993, and her sister Billie (Alwilda) Garry.
When first married, her and Sam lived in Braddock, Saskatchewan while farming in that area. They later moved to Swift Current where Sam started working and later Norma worked at Sears and then at the local television station CJFB TV in the financial services section, for about 10 years. Later they moved to Swan Hills, Alberta where Norma worked at Esso in the office and Sam worked for their son James. Norma and Sam moved back to Swift Current and built a house at Lac Pelletier where they lived for many years. While at the lake Norma worked at Mobil Oil Ltd. and drove back and forth between the lake and Swift Current only missing one day of work over several years.
After retirement, she purchased a trailer in Weslaco, Texas and would spend four to five months in Texas then back to Lac Pelletier for the rest of the year. She was an avid baker of bread and buns as well as being resourceful by gardening and pickling various vegetables. At the lake she really enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and the evening campfires. She has many good friends and lots of good times with them. She was a strong matriarch of the family and will be dearly missed.
A graveside service will be held on Friday July 19, 2024 at 2:00 pm, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
