The wildfire danger in the Grande Prairie Forest Area is VERY HIGH.

Due to the continuing hot and dry conditions, the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service has issued a fire advisory effective today at 12 p.m. for the entire County, along with the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley.

The County’s advisory aligns with the fire advisory issued yesterday by Alberta Wildfire for the Grande Prairie Forest Area due to increasing temperatures and gusty winds. While existing fire permits are still valid, Fire Services will be evaluating any new permit requests over the coming days.

Any burning without a valid fire permit, other than a campfire, is prohibited. Burning is never permitted when winds are forecasted to reach 12 kilometres per hour or higher.

For safe burning practices, visit the Fire Services page or contact Regional Fire Service at 780-532-9727.
