Maybe you’re looking to do some light yard maintenance this summer. Or perhaps you need to put in some heavy work at a rural property. Whatever your plans, you can count on Laramee Enterprises to have the equipment you require.

“Whether you’re building a fence and need a post-hole auger, or are cutting trees and require a chainsaw or aerial lift to reach those high branches, we have you covered,” says Jordan Laramee, owner-operator of the Portage la Prairie business. “We also have skid-steers, mini skid-steers, scissor lifts, dump trailers, mini excavators and even more in stock.”

For the summer and fall of 2024, Laramee’s’ is especially excited about the new line-up of zero-turn mowers from Stihl. He says they’re built to last, and with a full suspension make it more enjoyable to cut your yard. The new Xcite zero-turn mower from Husqvarna is worth checking out as well, he says.

The outdoor grill-masters (enthusiast) may also be interested in the new ironwood unit from Traeger. Completely redesigned, it heats up quicker, is easier to clean and features a new digital controller.

“We offer a variety of products and services,” Laramee explains. “Sometimes it’s worth a phone call to see if we have something that isn’t listed on our website.”

A lot of people in and around Portage la Prairie will likely know Laramee’s for its rental equipment. And no wonder. With an inventory that includes cement equipment such as brick and road saws, electrical tools like drywall guns and magnetic drills, lawn and garden equipment from tillers to log splitters, and rough terrain telehandlers and propane forklifts for those more demanding job sites, home reno equipment including floor sanders...home and business owners are accustomed to starting their projects at Laramee’s.

After all, they’ve been doing it for nearly half a century.

“Laramee Enterprises was established 45 years ago by my father Kevin,” Laramee recalls. “We were originally located on Saskatchewan Ave, but we made the move to our current location at 70-10th St NE in May of 1999.”

From a young age, Laramee watched his father at work in the business and then got a start by sweeping floors and washing equipment. It was a hands-on, work-your-way-up education, the result being a generational business that has continued to serve the residents of Portage and area well.

“We love being a part of the community here in Portage la Prairie,” says Laramee. “We support our local Central Plains Cancer Care, the Terriers hockey teams, the Portage Padres, Sunset Palliative Care and Brake for Breakfast.”

Laramee also hopes to carry the legacy of the family business far into the future.

“We’re a locally-owned and operated company,” he says. “With me taking over, we plan on seeing how far we can take it!”

Laramee Enterprises can be reached by calling (204) 857-3483. Many of their products and services can also be viewed on their website.
