This past weekend, Humboldt Hammerheads swimmer Aidra Angelstad established new standards.
Angelstad set three new provincial records at the Melfort Marlins Swim Meet in Nipawin.
On Saturday, she broke the record in the girls 15-17 50m backstroke, previously set in 2004. Then she broke her own, newly set, record again the next day.
On Sunday she also broke the record in the 25m backstroke, previously set in the girls 15-17 age group in 2006 and set in the Open age group in 2001. Aidra now holds the record for 25m backstroke in both the girls 15-17, and girl Open categories.
Also, this weekend, Kellie Campbell of the Watrous Whitecaps Swim Club broke the record for the 13-14 girls 25m butterfly, previously set in 2022.
Earlier this season at their first swim meet of the year, Emily Sainsbury, also from the Watrous Whitecaps Swim Club broke the 2023 record for 200m freestyle in 9-10 girls.
