When Coverall Dry Cleaner’s door closed this spring, another one opened for Anika Blaschuck.

A skilled seamstress who’d worked at Coverall for three years, and who’d enjoyed sewing since she was a teenager, Blaschuck decided to keep doing what she loved by opening her own business.

“Everyone wanted to continue with my services,” she says, “so I just jumped right into it.”

Her new shop, Sew What is located at 161 B, Central Ave N in Swift Current – conveniently downtown. She’s hoping to quickly grow her client list, and she’s anticipating some carry-over business from Coverall as well.

As for the services she offers, Blaschuck says she can do just about anything.

“I can do everything from fixing zippers to coverall repairs, from sewing snaps, buttons and badges to patches, torn seams and hems,” she explains. “For the hems, I do dresses, pants, curtains and shirts.”

Blaschuck is already planning some neat surprises for her customers at Sew What, and a Grand Opening event is in the works for sometime this fall. For the moment, she’s open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday to Wednesday through the summer, at which point she’ll switch to 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

She says she’s excited to continue offering sewing services to Swift Current and the surrounding area.

“I’m local and very passionate,” she says. “I love doing it. You can pretty much bring everything to me and I’ll tackle the job.”

Sew What can be reached by calling (306)-750-0026 or emailing absewing24@gmail.com.
