A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Peace Country including Dawson Creek and Fort St John.

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening.

The heat warning also continues  A prolonged heat event continues, with daytime highs between 28 and 38 degrees Celsius. Overnight lows will remain warm, ranging from the mid-teens to low 20s, and will not provide much relief from the daytime heat. Cooler temperatures are expected to start moving into northwestern parts of the province starting tonight. Hot conditions may persist through much of the week for some parts of southern Alberta.
