The Eastlink Centre annual maintenance shutdown is scheduled to take place from September 3-27.
The shutdown maintenance helps ensure the facility’s longevity by completing preventative work, repairs, a deep clean and upgrades to amenities. By prioritizing repairs and maintenance to happen during the annual shutdown, the Eastlink Centre can provide a superior experience for residents while maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
Contractors and City staff will prioritize the following tasks during the shutdown:
·Repairing the 50-metre competition pool bulkhead (moveable wall).
·Refurbishing the splash pad.
·Re-grouting shower rooms and the family hot tub.
·Replacing filtration components at the end of their lifecycle.
·Refurbishing the sauna.
·Installing new shower heads.
Various other preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs will also be completed during the aquatics shutdown.
Aquatics Impacts
The aquatics area is fully closed for the duration of maintenance.
The Eastlink Centre has initiatives during the shutdown to continue supporting members and encourage visitors to explore the facility including special dryland fitness classes in place of aquatics fitness classes and the Fall Fitness Pass, featuring five drop-in visits for the price of three.
Members looking to get full use of their membership are encouraged to use the rest of the Eastlink Centre including drop-in fitness classes, drop-in activities, PlayCare and all other public areas, such as the fitness centre and Design Works Centre. The City is also partnering with the Beaverlodge Swimming Pool, located in the NuVista Energy Centre, so Eastlink Centre members and Grande Access pass holders can access the facility during public swim times.
Eastlink Centre memberships are eligible to be paused or cancelled during the shutdown. Members interested in this option may do so by contacting Access GP at 311, or online at access.cityofgp.com.
