After an investigation undertaken by the Moose Jaw Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Section, a 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged with several firearms-related offences. 

Police initially arrested a suspect in possession of a handgun with the serial number removed on April 15, 2023, and say they were able to determine the firearm’s serial number and owner.  

The owner of the firearm reported a break-and-enter to MJPS on April 17, 2023, where multiple firearms (including the one police seized on April 15, 2023) were stolen. 

After an investigation into suspected firearm trafficking comprising of seven warrants and production orders, a 35-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, July 24, and has been charged as follows: 

-Trafficking a Restricted Firearm x2 

-Trafficking a Non-Restricted Firearm 

-Trafficking a Prohibited Device 

-Making a False Police Report Regarding the Theft of Firearms 

Police say the man will make his first court appearance in Moose Jaw on September 30, 2024.
