After much work and planning, the Country Truckin’ charity concert went on tonight and was a huge success.
Many came out to Blumenort to enjoy the auction, truck show, food, live music, and most importantly, to support three incredible charities.
Live performances from Doc Walker, The Coveralls, Emma Peterson, Jaryn Friesen, and Young & Haggard had the crowd dancing all night long.
Cornie Petkau, owner of PBX Trucking says lots of planning went into the event and looks forward to the evening.
“We’ve been very excited about this. We worked hard on this to get it going and finally, the day is here and so far, the day is half over and it’s been very good. We’ve had good food, and we have a good turnout.”
The charity organizations chosen by Petkau and his team are R.O.C Eastman, Headway, and Blumenort YFC. He says they wanted to help these organizations because of their dedication to bettering the lives of children in our communities.
“A lot of people around here, they’re very supportive of those three groups. I have a good relationship with them and believe in what they do. That’s why we chose those three to support.”
Petkau goes on to give thanks to the community and the PBX team.
“I’m very thankful for anybody that was part of this, helped us with this, donated, and worked hard to make this happen. Our employees are awesome, just so helping in whatever we do, they support us.”
Moni Loewen of R.O.C. Eastman shares how she feels about the support from PBX Trucking.
“Amazing, in a word. I have said this for years now, if every business in the world supported families and children the way PBX Trucking does, the world would change drastically. They are incredible and committed and they’re not in it for the short term, they are in it for the long haul to support families.”
YFC Ministry Director, Vince Kehler shares a little bit about what YFC hopes to achieve for Blumenort and says he is so grateful to be a part of the Country Truckin’ event.
“We came into Blumenort under a year ago and put up a new building. We’re just really super blessed to meet with the teenagers of the community to provide a place of hope. We talk about having a place of hope relationally, hope emotionally, hope physically, and also hope spiritually. We’re really seeing that come into fruition and meeting lots of kids in the community and feeling blessed by that.”
He continues, “Thank you so much for coming. This is a great community event. It’s a wonderful community and we just feel really supported and loved.”
Heidi Harder-Falk of Headway says they had the opportunity to set up their booth, chat with people about what Headway is all about, and raise awareness.
“A really great event to support us as charities and it’s amazing seeing all the people who came out and participated in the auction and coming up for the concert. Just feeling really supported.”
She adds that all the work leading up to today has been worth it.
“The team at PBX has just been incredible in setting this all up. It’s been a lot of work that’s gone into it. So many fundraiser meetings and that kind of thing. But it’s such a fun team. It’s exciting seeing it all come together.”
PBX donated $15,000 to each of the charities and hope there is still more to come!
