STARS and the City of Grande Prairie are together celebrating a significant milestone in their 18-year partnership — announcing that the municipality has now contributed $1.5 million to STARS’ operations since 2006.

To mark the occasion, STARS unveiled the City of Grande Prairie’s logo on one of its H145 helicopters at the Grande Prairie Regional Airshow this past weekend — symbolizing the city’s ongoing partnership during every mission where a STARS air medical crew is called in.

“The long-standing generosity of the City of Grande Prairie is a testament to the entire community’s commitment to their fellow Albertans. Every mission flown, every innovation trialed, and every new team member trained is supported through their tremendous partnership,” said Katherine Emberly, STARS president and CEO. “Now, every person who sees the logo on the helicopter will be reminded of the incredible impact being made by the Grande Prairie community.”

The City of Grande Prairie continues to support STARS critical care operations in the region, through a multi-year agreement. Their ongoing commitment helps STARS rapidly deliver critical care to rural Albertans when they need it most.

STARS has flown 4,787 missions from the Grande Prairie base since it first opened in 2006, including 317 missions in 2023, and 137 missions so far in 2024, as of July 1. STARS looks forward to continuing to grow with the City of Grande Prairie and help ensure that northern residents are served for years to come.
