Local woman, Maria Lewans has been in court following a lengthy history with the City of Swift Current, involving her dogs.
Alex Stevenson, bylaw compliance officer for the City of Swift Current, has had run-ins with Lewans and her canines before and is aware of her history with the City from before he stepped into his role.
"Our bylaw department has had dealings with Miss Lewans for a number of years now," said Stevenson. "Dating back to 2019."
The two biggest incidents, and subsequent cause for the court case allegedly were one young female being chased by one of Lewans's dogs, and a family pet that was attacked.
Lewans has been taken to court regarding her dogs and has allegedly appealed for leave to the Supreme Court of Canada.
Her latest appearance in court on July 12 saw her seeking an update on this request. Instead, she received an adjournment for Sept. 25, 2024.
